Chatbot applications
Endurance – companion for dementia sufferers
Many people suffering with dementia retain much of their conversational abilities as their illness progresses. However, the shame and frustration that many dementia sufferers experience often make routine, everyday talks with even close family members challenging. The purpose of this chatbot is to be a virtual companion and speak with senior people on general topics such as the weather and news. It can also monitor any deterioration in the person’s condition.
This open source project is still in its earlier stages, but has great potential to help scientists better understand how Alzheimer’s disease affects the brain.
Insomnobot
If you suffer from insomnia, the idea that everyone else in the world is resting peacefully is among the worst parts of not being able to sleep.
Insomnobot is a conversational agent that aims to give insomniacs someone to talk to while the rest of the world is asleep.
Zoe (Zone of Open Education)
Zoe is a chatbot that talks to you about Physics revision. This was the winning app in the Polish Apps for Good Awards. It helps you to revise faster and in a more effective way for exams, but also acts as your friend.
Zoe aims to change the way students think about school notes. So far she has been fed with all the physics notes the team had collected over the past year. The team also showed how Zoe as a chatbot is a much faster user interface for finding information than using an internet browser.
